Frequently Asked Questions
There are multiple different systems that each filter your water in their own unique ways. When you meet with our team, we can discuss which options are best for your property. Some clients prefer to focus on keeping chemicals out of their water, while others are more concerned with germs. Regardless, we can help equip you with the right treatment system.
- Distillation – This system relies on the tried-and-true boiling method, collecting the clean water as it cools. While not as effective against harsh chemicals, it is a great way to remove viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Distillation cannot get rid of substances that easily evaporate.
- Filtration – The main function of this system is to trap germs and chemicals against its filter while letting the clean water pass through the pores. There are multiple levels of filtration, and you can add certain coagulants to some filters for added efficiency.
- Microfiltration – The pores in this filter are only about 0.1 microns wide. Lead, arsenic, and hepatitis A are common substances that microfiltration can block.
- Ultrafiltration – Going down a size, this filter’s pores are roughly 0.01 microns in diameter. These smaller pores are more effective at trapping bacteria and parasites, but they do not trap chemicals.
- Nanofiltration – Even smaller, these pores are only 0.001 micrometers wide. This makes them effective at trapping all of the previous levels’ bacteria, viruses, and parasites while also catching certain harmful chemicals.
- Reverse Osmosis – This unique filtration system uses a two-part system. The first brings the incoming water into a solution with pre-filled substances. Then, this water transfers to a cleaner solution that filters out all the excess impurities. This process is more likely to reduce chemicals like lead, copper, chromium, and sodium.
- Ultraviolet – Using the power of UV light, this method is one of the newer water treatment systems in Kansas City. The beams within the unit disinfect the incoming water either before or after going through a separate filter. This system helps prevent exposure to bacteria, viruses, and parasites, but it does not remove chemicals.
Water Softeners – Finally, this treatment primarily removes minerals like magnesium and calcium that cause hard water. Some filters in this category can remove heavier metals as well.

While drinking untreated water isn’t guaranteed to make you sick, you put yourself at higher risk of illness or chemical exposure. Bacteria and viruses can live and thrive in tap water, especially during the colder months. That is why it’s crucial to have quality water treatment systems in Kansas City.
Each unit is different, which means the timeframe that manufacturers recommend between replacements differs. However, most treatment systems last for about 5 to 10 years. Once you notice a change in your water, we can send in the team to keep you safe from contaminants.
Absolutely! These units last for years on their own, but some issues can blindside your treatment system. In true superhero fashion, we want to keep our clients safe from overspending. That’s why we offer warranties on all of our water treatment systems in Kansas City.
